MEININGER Hotel Wien Downtown Franz (Vienna, Austria)

Visitors say this hostel is good value, especially given the location. In exchange, you get well-organised, clean rooms that's spacious with Wi-Fi. Satisfied guests said it felt more like a hotel than a hostel, because of the way it was maintained. The hostel is much cheaper than other Vienna places to stay, guests noted.

The hostel is located just 10 minutes from the Schottenring subway station. The hostel is not located in the centre of Vienna, but this makes the neighbourhood much quieter. The busier areas are within walking distance with cafes, parks and restaurants along the way.

Unlike other hostels where guests have to share bathrooms with several other guests they don't know, the bathroom sharing system is more manageable here. If you rent out an entire dorm room for your group, it comes with its own private bathroom.

The room can get hot and stuffy in the summers, but guests said the air conditioning didn't function. It made for a very uncomfortable and hot stay. The hostel says that they provide fans if requested at the reception.

The hostel is very popular among travel groups that want to take advantage of the affordable dorm room prices. So you may get stuck behind a large line if a group of backpackers or raucous children get in front of you.

The hostel has an underground parking facility, but be prepared to pay a daily rate for it. Several guests said the rates were too expensive.
